OCWA Supports National Day of Mourning
OCWA Supports the National Day of Mourning commemorating workers whose lives have been lost or injured in the workplace.
April 28, 2015 marks the 24th year since the Parliament of Canada passed the Workers Day of Mourning Act which proclaimed April 28th as the National Day of Mourning. This day commemorates those workers whose lives have been lost or injured in the workplace. OCWA joins with other organizations, employers and employees across Canada to honour those affected by workplace death, injury or illness.
Agency employees are being encouraged to observe a moment of silence at 1:00pm today and facilities with flags are encouraged to lower them to half-mast as a public symbol of remembrance and respect. These gestures are intended to help raise awareness and encourage continuous action to our staff’s personal commitment to ensure a healthy and safe workplace for ourselves and those around us.
