OCWA has an internal training program for its operators, delivering high-quality training in Environmental Compliance, Health and Safety, and many areas of Treatment and Distribution. Our courses are Director- Approved, designed to support operating training and certification requirements.
From curriculum development to delivery of courses, OCWA's combination of adult education professionals and experienced water operators can assist in meeting your specific training needs. Established in 2004, The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is a world-class institute dedicated to ensuring that training and education about drinking water quality is available and accessible to owners and operators of Ontario's drinking water systems, especially to those serving small and remote communities.
With the release of the Province's mandatory drinking water certification courses in 2005/2006, OCWA was selected as the training provider for these courses. The Agency successfully renewed its contract with WCWC in 2008 to deliver these courses through to 2011. For more information on the one-day certificate renewal course "Safeguarding Drinking Water Quality" and the Entry-Level Course for Operators-In-Training, please visit the WCWC at www.wcwc.ca/en.
The Ontario Water Wastewater Certification Office also provides information on certification and licensing under Ontario regulations 170/03 and 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act, and 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act.
