Peel to Negotiate New Long-term Contract with OCWA

An extensive and lengthy review concluded that OCWA would provide the Region of Peel with the best overall value for their future delivery of water and wastewater services in South Peel. The eight-month long review was undertaken by the Region in consultation with EMA Canada, a third party expert in the field of water and wastewater operations.

Evaluation criteria were built from industry measures and best practices identified by EMA Canada through more than 450 evaluations of water and wastewater operations across North America. Based on these evaluations, EMA's analysis concluded that "OCWA's current performance in South Peel is among the top five percent in North America and that the Region is currently receiving a very high level of service."

Key benefits identified OCWA's history of sound operational performance, effective management, and availability of essential services. A long-term contract with OCWA was deemed to provide the best value to the Region.
