Education

Education is a powerful tool. At OCWA, we lead by example by reaching out to our community and our future generations about the impact their actions can have on our fragile water systems. This is why OCWA is an active participant in industry conferences. We present several papers on topics ranging from operational best practices to operator incentive programs and also work as part of various research consortiums involving municipal, provincial and federal governments and Ontario universities to better understand source water protection and the effects of wastewater treatment.

OCWA actively supports Youth Employment and Educational initiatives and mentoring through various programs:

PROGRAMS - STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

Working with Ontario colleges and universities, we connect students to Co-ops and Job Placements. The Agency also invites youth to learn about water careers through our Summer Experience Program. Co-op opportunities will be posted on this site as they become available.

Scholarships

OCWA offers two Environmental Second-year Scholarships for students who are planning an environmental career. This is open to students entering their second year of an Environmental Co-op Program at an Ontario college or university. Two scholarships of up to $2,500 plus a paid co-op work term are awarded annually.

OCWA also offers an Environmental Entrance Scholarship for Aboriginal students entering their first year of an Environmental Co-op Program at an Ontario college or university. One scholarship of up to $2,500 plus a paid co-op work term is awarded annually.
